Spencer Pitfield, Parliamentary Candidate for Penistone & Stocksbridge, this week praised the staff of Sheffield and Barnsley Councils and all the emergency services for their fantastic work through the big freeze.

Spencer said: “I send my sincere congratulations and thanks to employees of both Councils for the incredible effort they have put in to keep our roads clear of snow and services running. I would also like to place on record my thanks to all of our wonderful emergency service personnel for the tremendous support they have given local people through these treacherous conditions”.

Spencer also praised local residents for their community spirit and willingness to help keep the area on the move.

“I have witnessed first-hand whilst out and about delivering our Annual Reports the incredible spirit of local people through these unprecedented weather conditions. It’s at times like these that people really do pull together in the best interests of their local community”.

Spencer has written to the Leaders of both local Councils to thank them and their staff directly. He has also written to South Yorkshire Police to thank them and the other emergency services for their professionalism in these difficult circumstances.
