Spencer Leads Community-Clean-up

Spencer Pitfield, Parliamentary Candidate for Penistone and Stocksbridge, together with local Conservative Councillors, this week completed a clean-up of an area of rough land adjacent to the Spar in Penistone.

Spencer said: "I am committed to keeping our community clean and well kept. Sadly, littering is a terrible problem in many places across Penistone & Stocksbridge. But by running clean-ups like this one we are hoping to encourage other community groups to take a greater lead in their local areas. The Council, Parish Council and Town Council, residents groups and residents all need to do their bit as we are all in this together".

Cllr. Robert Barnard said: "The land and car-park surrounding the Spar in Penistone has become particularly dirty. We approached the shop and gained permission to undertake this litter-pick and will continue to work closely with the community to maintain the very highest levels of cleanliness".

Cllr. Andrew Millner commented: "We will continue to press our local Councils for further funding to keep the streetscene clean and tidy. Keeping our streets and pavements free of litter is critical, and the local Conservative team will continue to work hard to deliver on the core concerns of local residents".
