Spencer Pitfield, Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Penistone and Stocksbridge, has this week continued to highlight the appalling state of the road network in north Sheffield.
Look Local readers know only too well the terrible damage to cars from the continual pounding of our pot-holed and patched-up road surface across the area.
Spencer said: “It is a disgrace the state of our roads here in north Sheffield. Years and years of under-funding have resulted in one of the worst road networks in the country. People are quite rightly sick and tired of all the pot-holes and constant re-patching.
Re-patching of our roads is not the answer. This approach is a terrible false economy. I continue to call on the city Council to invest more money upfront to relay whole stretches of road. This might initially cost more but will no doubt costs the taxpayer less in the long run”.
Spencer is asking local people in north Sheffield to send him pictures of pot-holes, broken pavements and roads in a poor state of repair. He will then personally pass these problem hot-spots onto the local highways department.
Spencer continued: “We must continue to place pressure on the local authorities on this important issue. All photos I receive in the coming days will be forwarded to the highways agency for immediate action. I will continue to work hard for a fairer deal for people living and working in north Sheffield”.
